Multimedia Project Technology as a tool
I agree with many parts of this artice. I am a firm believer in hands on learning. I would much rather learn something by doing it rather than to sit and listen and then try to duplicate from memory what I was suppose to do. I can relate to the analogy of fixing a car or building a house. These types of project promote true learning. These types of project also produce true failure, things often go wrong while fixing the car, as the fixer you have no choice but to try to solve what went wrong if you want the car to work again. Student centered hands on learning projects used in the class would definitely promote real learning, but to find projects across the curriculum grades k-12 with every teacher on board teaching with hands on projects in every curricular area would be a huge task...and for many students failure of the project means the car will still work.
